Haverford Cultural Fair
We hope you can join us for our second annual Cultural Fair! The event will take place on Thursday, March 13 in Haverford's Wrestling Room from 5 to 8 p.m.
We will be meeting throughout the year to plan the fair, and our first meeting will be Monday, September 30, at 8:30 a.m. in Nostrant Pavilion, Palmer House. Future committee meetings will be held monthly from October through December, then bi-weekly January through mid-March. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, October 30th at 7pm via Google Meet. The link will be sent out via the HSPA Notes that morning.
To represent our beautiful global Haverford School community, we invite you to volunteer to host a table showcasing a country, celebration, festival, tradition, or part of the world that is important to you. Take a moment to sign up to celebrate your family traditions or favorite places in our world.
This is an opportunity to work with your children to celebrate your culture with pride. The table could include:
- a craft or game
- a poster, replica or trifold of an area’s landmarks
- objects or symbols of importance to your culture
- a dish or treat to sample
- a country or state flag
- pictures from a recent celebration or visit
- musical instruments
- clothing or jewelry
You can share a few popular words from another language, show off traditional dress, dance or music, play an instrument…anything that can showcase your pride and joy. Decorate with a place or celebration meaningful to your family or explore something new together. Places can be US-based as well as international. Last year’s represented countries included: Israel, China, Canada, Jamaica, The Netherlands, South Korea, India, Italy, Greece, Poland, Nigeria, Iran, Pakistan and Great Britain.
As we would like to ensure that we have diverse representation at our fair, we will limit each tradition/place to just 1 table. If multiple people are interested in the same topic, we will connect you so you can collaborate with another family at Haverford, maybe one that you haven’t met yet!
Thank you in advance for your participation in this exciting event!
