Preparing Boys for Life

The Arts at Haverford

The Haverford School boasts a rich artistic heritage, approaching the arts as an integral part of each boy's education. We are proud to count many professional performing and visual artists among our alumni ranks.

The arts at Haverford enriches the life of every boy, providing him with ways of discovering and expressing himself. He works side-by-side with faculty who are practicing artists themselves, and who view the classroom and studio experience as integral to their professional growth and creative calling.

We host master classes and visiting artists, hold an annual Arts Festival, study at museums and galleries, and publish an arts and literary magazine, Pegasus, which was recently granted a gold medal by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Our arts program inspires creative thought that transcends disciplines.

Empathy, Connection, Communication

The Best for Boys speaker series is an annual forum for the educational experts at The Haverford School to discuss the practices that help foster the social, emotional, and academic growth of young boys.

Darren Hengst, the Grace and Mahlon Buck Chair in Performing Arts, recently gave a Best for Boys presentation titled “Performing Arts—Empathy, Connection, Communication." Click the image below to learn more.
