Headmaster John Nagl recognized two Lower School students, fourth-grader Max Fertels and third-grader Esref Erkman, for community service projects they initiated earlier this year.

At the annual William E. Gwinn Memorial Science Lecture on May 11, Dr. Leila Deravi discussed how proteins could be used to build flexible electronic devices, the focus of her research as the lead of the Biomaterials Design Group at Northeastern University. Dr. Deravi also met with students in Engineering class and advised the School's robotics team on their experiments.

For his senior project, VI Former Evan Haas shadowed Dr. Steven Copit and Dr. Tutu Chang at Jefferson Plastic Surgery in Philadelphia for three weeks. Jefferson Plastic Surgery functions as the division of plastic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. In this blog post, he reflects on his first medical training experience, including learning the importance of compassion and critical thinking skills in the field of medicine.

For their senior project, VI Formers Cameron Hoorfar, Devin Weichert, and George Rubin designed, painted, and mounted a new mural that now hangs on the Field House wall, by the outdoor basketball court. It highlights both The Haverford School sense of brotherhood, and its various athletic programs.
