Fords Crew brings home 5 medals from Head of Schuylkill Regatta

Haverford Crew brought home 5 medals from the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on Sunday, October 29 - 1 Gold, 2 Silver, and 2 Bronze. These are the best results Haverford School Crew has had at the regatta in recent years.

Starting off the day for the Fords was the Frosh/Novice Quad. Haverford had 3 entries in this event with Sen Zelov, Carter McCann, Brian Williams, and Owen Vanderzswan placing 2nd overall. The additional boats in the event for THS placed 7th and 14th out of 20 entries.

The Haverford School had 3 combined entries in the Varsity Single and JV Single events. This is a growing category at the regatta. Haverford's top finisher was Thomas Russell placing 2nd in the JV Single.

The Varsity Four was one of the larger events of the day with 70 entries, and Jack Costello, Aidan Leavy, David McKay, Tim Scheuritzel, and Nelson Liu placed 3rd overall. Three of those athletes, Jack Costello, Aidan Leavy, and David McKay, were back on the water an hour later accompanied by Andrew Farmer to race the Varsity Quad and placed 3rd in the event.

Wrapping up the day was the Varsity Double. The Haverford School had 2 entries in the event and their top boat ended up winning by over 5 seconds. Tim Scheuritzel and Thomas Russell seized the gold medals and had the Fords close the regatta with a victory.

Coach Jonathan Stephanik is, 'very happy for the team and the hard work they have put in this fall. There is a lot of good competition on the river and we hope this motivates us for the upcoming spring season.'
