CANCELED: William E. Gwinn '86 Memorial Science Lecture
Centennial Hall
Dr. Sian Proctor will be presenting the 2020 Gwinn Lecture.

Dr. Proctor is a geology professor at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, Arizona. Through the span of her career, she has been a NASA Solar System Ambassador, an Astronomy in Chile education ambassador, a NOAA Teacher at Sea, and a PolarTREC teacher. She is also an analog astronaut that conducts research in simulated Mars and Moon habitats, an opportunity that presented itself after becoming a finalist in the 2009 NASA Astronaut program. Our V Form Biology classes research and complete a project on "Meals for Mars," inspired by her work on these missions.

Dr. Proctor will be joining us to talk to the upper school students about the journey through her career and share the lessons she's learned from being a finalist for NASA's Astronaut Program, living in research simulations, being a science communications expert on reality TV shows, and much more.
