As part of the early signing period for Division I athletes, eight members of the Class of 2021 at The Haverford School have announced their decisions to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
The Haverford School golf team is considerably one of the best in the state. The golf team competes in the Inter-Academic League, this is one of the oldest interscholastic leagues in the country. The other teams in the league are: Episcopal Academy, Germantown Academy, Malvern Prep, Penn Charter, and Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.
Every team has their home course, those courses are: Haverford - Gulph Mills, Episcopal - Merion West, Germantown - Bluestone, Malvern - Applebrook/Waynesboro, Penn Charter - Huntingdon Valley, SCHA- Sunnybrook.
Unlike traditional golf, the golfers only play nine holes, and count the top six scores of the team. The varsity team consists of 12 players, eight of which play at each match. The decision process for the varsity team, unlike other sports, does not include tryouts. The coaches look at how the athletes play over the summer, on their own. The Coaches watch them closely over the summer and decide if they have what it takes to be apart of the top twelve, and in the top eight.
The Haverford School Athletic Department recognizes its All-Inter-Ac individual performers from the fall 2019 season. Team highlights from the fall season include Inter-Ac Championships in golf and water polo and an appearance/second place finish in the 2019 PAISAA soccer championship game.
More than two dozen Haverford students will continue their athletic careers at their respective colleges and universities in 11 different sports. Go Fords!
Eight student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to play D1 sports, including baseball, lacrosse, golf, and basketball.
Thirty student-athletes from the Class of 2018 will be playing sports for their respective colleges and universities this fall.
