Spanish II students connect with Latino community of Philadelphia

All three sections of Spanish II went on a field trip May 19 aimed at connecting with the Latino community within the city of Philadelphia, including a special mural tour; visiting a nonprofit organization for Latino youth arts; and ordering lunch at an authentic Colombian restaurant. Upper School Spanish teachers Carmen Epstein and Noel Straight provided a recap of this "global and local" field trip.

Junior Tyler Campbell is Main Line Student of the Week

Campbell is the School's Head of Diversity Alliance Communications and represented Haverford at the Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC) the past two years. He co-organized the School's fall and spring retreats, and Day of Silence. He writes poetry every day and attended the Big Timber Arts Roundup for writing. Campbell is the leader of the Poetry Club and frequent contributor to Pegasus, the School's literary magazine. He will attend Kenyon College Young Writers Program at Kenyon College in Ohio this summer and is writing his own poetry collection, "Pieces of a Kid," which he plans to finish in September. Kick off Arts Festival at The Haverford School on Thursday, May 4 with the Student Art Exhibition Opening Reception. Artists from the Lower, Middle, and Upper school are represented alongside the work of alumni who have continued as professional and avocational artists.
