Preparing Boys for Life.

Libraries

A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops. Henry B. Adams

The libraries and technology services at Haverford aim to provide students and teachers with a rich variety of resources and materials they need to discover their passions, reinforce their knowledge, and invent a new way of looking at the world. We also instill in our students the habits of mind and 21st century skills.

Facilities and Resources

The Severinghaus and Tabas libraries support a learning environment that works well for boys. Comfortable seating and tables for gathering promote cooperation and collaboration. The libraries provide the following School resources:

  • 36,000+ books, audiobooks, and multimedia volumes
  • 30 Desktop computers
  • 20 Netbooks
  • 20 Flip cameras

Instructional Partnering and Curriculum Support

Librarians work with teachers to bring information literacy skills into the classroom. They provide instruction in the use of tools, video equipment, technology, and web resources that will increase student success.

Tabas Library (Lower School)

The Tabas Library serves pre-kindergarten-5th grade. Through the computerized catalog, students can find books located in both the Tabas and Severinghaus Libraries. All lower school students have weekly library classes that incorporate the regular classroom curriculum.
