Dr. John NaglDear Fords Nation,

The Haverford School is committed to continuing to improve and evolve so that our boys will be prepared to lead and serve our community and our world for years to come. In support of that effort, every five years we engage in a strategic planning process to ensure that we're meeting the needs of today's boys -- and that we are strongly positioned to educate and inspire future generations.

This process is important; our 2015 effort led to a formal commitment to help every Haverford student be a man of character who is a good citizen of Philadelphia and our nation. This year's effort will set the course of the School for 2020 and beyond.

The strategic planning process began in earnest at the Board Retreat at West Point Oct. 5-6, which I encourage you to read about here. We debated the challenges that Haverford faces, the priorities we should pursue, and the things that cannot and must not change for the School to continue to thrive. We then enlisted the thoughts of the internal and external communities on these topics. Together, we are determining the kind of school Haverford should be, what values and programs we should emphasize, and how we can continue to fulfill and advance our mission.

Thank you for your help and support as we continue our work together to prepare our boys for a life of meaning and purpose.
