Preparing Boys for Life

Second-graders walk three miles in annual Walk for Water

As the culminating event of second-graders' study of Africa, they complete a Walk for Water service project. After learning about the hardship that many children in rural areas endure to access clean drinking water, second grade boys walk three miles with two gallons of water, cheered on by their pre-kindergarten buddies and the rest of the Lower School community. They also raise money -- their goal is $5,500 this year -- to build latrines for Kathungu Primary School in Kenya.
