Preparing Boys for Life

Upper School students place in Lower Merion Conservancy’s Nature Photo Contest

Two IV Formers in Kristin Brown’s photography class took part in the Lower Merion Conservancy Nature Photo Contest on Instagram. Joshua Ricefield received first place, while classmate Daniel Hou’s “spring” (pictured) earned third place in the contest. Both boys will receive a garden starter of plants native to Pennsylvania.

Ms. Brown’s Upper School photography students are documenting life at home during the COVID-19 era. The students are using Instagram to share their photos with the other boys in the class.

“The boys are taking photos at home of their daily activities: walks they take with family, meals they cook, or time spent playing with pets,” said Brown. “I thought this would be a great way to build community while we are apart.”

The boys both took photos in their yards and submitted them to the Lower Merion Conservancy in April, with the contest winners announced on May 1.
