The Haverford School is located 10 miles northwest of Center City Philadelphia, situated in the heart of the historic Main Line. Occupying 30 acres along Lancaster Avenue, the School is just minutes from SEPTA bus and rail stops.

Date of establishment

Founded in 1884 as The Haverford College Grammar School; moved to current location in 1903, at which time the School’s name was changed to The Haverford School.

Technology

Our network infrastructure provides high-performance connectivity throughout campus buildings and support for a 1:1 deployment of wireless devices, mobile devices, Apple TVs, email and file sharing, and video streaming. The Canvas learning management system in grades 5-12 connects instructors and students in and out of the classroom and provides a single space for sharing documents, submitting assignments, and assigning grades, as well as personalized features that enhance the learning experience for individual students. All classrooms include interactive whiteboards/projectors and full access to high-speed, wireless Internet. We support 1,100+ school-owned computers in a multi-platform environment, a bring-your-own device-program in the Upper School, 1:1 Chromebook/laptop carts in Middle and Lower Schools, and approximately 200 iPads. Athletics

Haverford is a proud member of the Inter-Academic League and fields 16 interscholastic sports. In 2017-18, the basketball, swimming, and tennis teams were Inter-Ac League Champions. Squash earned a No. 2 national ranking and was MASA Champion, the swim team was Eastern Interscholastic Swimming Champion, and basketball was a PAISSA tournament finalist. In 2017, the Fords won the Heyward Cup for the 17th time, demonstrating overall excellence in athletic competition.

The Arts

Haverford’s visual arts program includes 10 art spaces and a design and engineering studio in which students practice drawing, painting, photography, website design, video and animation, ceramics, and woodworking. Our acclaimed theater program stages several productions each year in a state-of-the art, 650-seat Centennial Hall, and consistently earns Cappie Awards. The School’s choral ensembles have sung at The White House, Carnegie Hall, the Academy of Music, Lincoln Center, and on tour throughout Europe. Haverford boasts a robust Lower School music curriculum, including violin in kindergarten and a full band, plus a voice and instrumental conservatory.
