Student opinion piece honored as part of The New York Times’ Student Editorial Contest
Upper School student Owen Yu was named a runner up in The New York Times’ 9th Annual Student Editorial Contest. Yu, a rising senior, submitted the opinion piece “Crying: It’s a Human Thing” this spring, with the winners being announced by the Times in mid-June.
The contest is open to middle and high school students around the world. More than 16,500 submissions were reviewed by 68 judges over two months before the final list of winners was announced. Of those 16,500 pieces, only 200 were selected by the judging panel. You can read more about the contest by clicking here.
