Adamya Aggarwal named 2022 U.S. Presidential Scholar

Sixth Former Adamya Aggarwal has been named a U.S. Presidential Scholar, one of the most prestigious awards given to a scholar in the country. He is one of only three students in Pennsylvania, and one of 161 students nationwide to receive this recognition.

The honor, which is selected by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars, is awarded to students based on academic success, artistic and technical excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, and the student’s dedication to community service and leadership. Adamya and the rest of the scholars will be celebrated during an online recognition program this summer.

“Adamya being acknowledged as a 2022 U.S. Presidential Scholar could not be more well deserved. During his time in the Upper School, Adamya’s academic and community footprint has been formidable,” said Head of Upper School Mark Fifer. “His precision on the robotics field, tenacity on the tennis court, and intellectual vibrancy in the classroom has earned him the respect and admiration of both teachers and peers alike. We are extraordinarily proud of Adamya and grateful for all his incredible contributions he has made to the Haverford community.”

According to a Department of Education press release about this year’s class, 5000 students nationwide qualified for the 2022 awards. The winners are selected based on performance of the SAT or ACT exams, or through nominations. The honorees include one male and one female student from each state. Some states, including Pennsylvania, have an additional award winner for the arts or technical education.
