Choosing the right school for your son is very important. We urge you to take the time to investigate your options and decide as a family what will be best for him. This is a "Self Managed" process of communication, a dialogue between school and family, and we are committed to making it as pleasant and informative as possible.

Entry Level Grades -- Our entry level grades are Junior Kindergarten, 5th Grade, 6th Grade, and 9th Grade. We have a few openings in Kindergarten. All other grades have openings ONLY through attrition.

Getting in touch
-- You have questions about independent, all-boys' schools, and about education in general. We need to know you're interested in talking to us, so if you have not received our brochure and application, please call the Admissions Office at (610) 642-4583, ext. 1200, or send us an online inquiry.

Information Session -- Some families prefer attending an Information Session as a first way of getting to know the School. Our fall Information Session will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2010, if you would like to attend and would like more information please click here.

Going for it -- Completing the Application begins our formal dialogue to decide if Haverford is the right match for your son. You may complete our Online Application or download a printable copy of our current application. If you download the application, please return it to us with a check for $50.

Coming to see us -- We enjoy meeting families and talking with you about Haverford and especially about your son. Call the Admissions Office to arrange a Parent Visit.  We look forward to the chance to discuss your hopes for your son and how we can best meet his needs.

Building the file -- Your son's admissions file will consist of:

  • the thoughts you've shared with us about your son
  • the application
  • teacher recommendations
  • school records
  • some form of formal evaluation (SSAT, ISEE, WISC)
Seeing for himself -- It is important your son visits Haverford. Your son will enjoy himself as he interacts with teachers and students.

Making up our minds -- You and your son will be deciding where he will thrive. At the same time, experienced teachers and administrators will carefully evaluate your son's file. We enroll only boys who we believe will enjoy and be enriched by their Haverford experience. We urge you to call us at any time to help in your family deliberations.

Timing it right -- The sooner you apply, the sooner we can begin the process. We enroll the majority of new students in Junior Kindergarten, 5th, 6th, and 9th grades. In other grades we cannot predict how many openings will occur. Accordingly, when the file is complete and an admissions decision is made, we will give you a clear assessment of the enrollment picture in your son's grade.

Keeping in touch -- We encourage you to let us know your thoughts and to ask questions as they occur. Your feedback will help us do a better job of serving you. Let us know your decision as soon as you can. There are far more applicants than openings in most of our grades, and the sooner we know your decision, the sooner we can let other families know their options. We always look forward to hearing from you.

Tuition Assistance is available and allocated only according to the School and Student Services (SSS, Click here for the SSS website) protocols for assessing the financial needs of a family. The majority of aid is given to Upper School students.
