Upper School musical "Pippin" takes center stage
February 25, 2013
The Haverford School Upper School Drama and Music Departments present “Pippin” March 8 and 9 in Centennial Hall.
Once upon a time, a young prince (Haverford School junior Jake Cohen) longed to discover the secret of true happiness and fulfillment. He sought it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh, and the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his father King Charlemagne the Great – Haverford School senior Tyler Brooks). In the end, he found it in the simple pleasures of home and family.
Pippin is a hip, tongue-in-cheek, anachronistic fairytale that captivated Broadway audiences and continues to appeal to the young-at-heart everywhere. The energetic pop-influenced score by three-time Oscar-winning composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz bursts with one show-stopping number after another, from soaring ballads to infectious dance numbers. The 68-member cast featured drama students from The Agnes Irwin School, The Baldwin School, Downingtown West High School, Lower Merion High School, Merion Mercy Academy, and The Haverford School.
