Come to the opening of our inaugural HavARTford Faculty and Staff Exhibition on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 4:30 p.m. in Centennial Hall and see the myriad talents of our community.     Boys don't read ... ?

    “Boys don’t read.” Parents, teachers, and the media commonly make this statement. However, at The Haverford School, boys do read. In the Lower School, they are excited about being able to read chapter books, and they talk with zeal about new books in their favorite series. By fifth grade, they are starting to share Young Adult (YA) fiction. In sixth grade, boys continue to recommend books to each other and to read with and for pleasure. But, there are some troubling national trends, and parents and educators can work together to keep boys on track to become successful young men.

    Best for Boys Speaker Series: The Hardwiring of Boys, Feb. 27

    The Haverford School is a leader in educating boys. Our Best for Boys speaker series invites parents to learn about topics and practices that help foster the social, emotional, and academic growth of young boys. The first event, The Hardwiring of Boys, will be presented Saturday, Feb. 27 by Dr. Ron Duska, Head of Lower School.

    Philadelphia Orchestra brings music to master class

    David Kim, Concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra, recently led a master class at The Haverford School. He provided a musical lesson and critique of two students: Karl Eckert (cello), who performed Dvorak's "Cello Concerto, 1st Movement," and Matthew Chow (violin), who performed Bach's "Partita" in E Major. In this blog post, the School's Orchestra Director interviews Kim about his inspirations and talents.
