Boys have fun in the Lower School. Our teachers motivate them to
want to explore and excel at learning!
Our teachers implement meaningful, hands-on learning experiences to meet the
individual needs of each boy in both a challenging and supportive way. In its
youngest grades, the Lower School program focuses on developing key
developmental areas for boys:
- Reading and writing
- Expressive language
- Fine motor development
- Social development
We incrementally build the boys’ ability to assume ownership of their learning and responsibilities. From the beginning, boys are immersed in fine arts, music, and science with experts in the field.
We understand that the world is changing and that our boys need a relevant
curriculum to be active leaders in a globally connected world. Our Lower School
curriculum exposes boys to rich cultural experiential learning through the spiraling
study of American, modern world, and ancient world units.
Because we take our Principals of Community as seriously as our academic program, we instill the values of our honor code: honesty, respect, and courage. We reinforce these values by modeling and practicing them daily. We inspire our boys to be curious about their world and good, active citizens of it. Through our service learning initiatives and community involvement, boys develop an active sense of citizenship and social consciousness.
