College Counseling

Applying to college is a process of decision-making. The mission of The Haverford School helps each student develop a greater vision of the ever-changing world around us. The Office of College Counseling echoes this mission by giving students the knowledge to push beyond easy answers to difficult questions and determine the college that is best for their education and their future.

College is more than the courses you take: it is the career preparation you receive, the friends you make, the interests you develop, and the memories you will keep for the rest of your life. Applying to college, as well as being an exercise in learning how to make decisions, is an important process of self-realization – a period of learning about oneself.

The Office of College Counseling wants to minimize the confusion created by the college selection process by answering many of the questions which surface each year. The key to successful college selection is good communication between the student, the parents, the school counselors, and the colleges. If you are ever in doubt, please do not hesitate to ask.
