    The Cinema of Masculinity

    The James Bond franchise has existed for over 50 years, with Spectre being released today. Each Bond serves as a marker for their generation's notions of masculinity, gender norms, race relations, and relationship with technology. In my course, The Cinema of Masculinity, students watch and write analytical papers about one film from each decade. They create unique arguments about how their film expresses the concerns of the decade. Last year, Yale freshman Jackson Simon '15 wrote a brilliant piece about Skyfall, a blockbuster film that appeared in 2012.
